ELF Haul!

This little beauty arrived in the post today!

I ordered a few things last week when they had the 20% off their studio products! I order from ELF at least once a month but they make it even better with these little offers! Make sure to follow them on Facebook, they tend to post a lot more codes there than they email to you!!

Anywho here's what I bought:

Two Stipple brushes which I'm dying to try! Yay for a day off work on Friday! £3.50 each

Four of my FAVOURITE brushes EVER! The blending eye brush!! I use this for eyes and concealer! I have some in my freelance kit and about 10 in my own collection! They are fab for the perfect smokey eye!! At £1.50 each a total bargain!

The studio bronzing and blush duo. I bought this on a whim! So many bloggers and gurus compare it to the Nars duo...not that I can afford that lol...but they are nice quality, a little sparkly for me but a light hand and a good brush and they'll be fine! £3.50!

The last item is the corrective concealer palette. This was a bit of a let down to be honest...being whiter than a ghost the skin shades are to dark for me, the green doesn't come off as green and the lilac is pink...oh well in the kit it goes...I'm sure il find a use for it!!!£3.50

That's all I got! I went a little eBay crazy this month so once everything arrives il do a collective haul!!

Tuesday Q&A

So last weeks questionnaire was kind of a random bunch of questions...this week I have decided to focus on beauty. I googled 'Beauty Questionnaire' and read through a few but this one, from Vikki's Blog, stood out as being the most informative yet fun, not a long boring read ;-)

How many times do you wash your face daily?
I cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day, with any gentle cleanser and a muslin cloth or cotton pads.

-What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
Very Dry :-(

-What is your current facial wash?
L'oreal dry skin cleanser - its pink if that helps lol.

-Do you exfoliate?

Once a week all over.

-What brand do you use?
Soap and Glory sugar scrub.

-What moisturizer do you use?
Oilatum natural face repair.

-Do you have freckles?
A few in the summer.

-Do you use eye cream?
Nope.

-Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
I do get the occasional hormonal breakout but i was never affected by acne.

-Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
I dont think we get that in the UK, but no.

-What foundation do you use?
It depends, if I need it to last all day and the best part of the night I will use Revlon Colorstay. If im just pottering about I will test out various other ones like the maybeline moose, <ew btw>, Rimmel Lift and perfect and a few avon ones.

-How about concealer?
I'v got a brilliant concealer palette of ebay and i LOVE it! I will post about it separately.
.-Do you know your undertone color?
Pink.

-What do you think of fake eyelashes?
LOVE! I love the individual semi permanent ones! But I do love a good pair of huge strip lashes! Im pretty good at putting them on if I do say so myself ;-)

-Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
I tend to use a range of different mascara throughout the month so I don't always use it up, its it dry and smells gross then I will...but as a rule no...tut tut slap my wrist lol.

-What brand of mascara do you use?
My favourite brand is Avon, they do such a fantastic range and are so reasonably priced! I do love Benefit Bad Gal, but I begrudge paying over £15 for a mascara! I think the Collection 2000 Big Fake Lash is just as good, but dries out quickly!

-Sephora or MAC?
We dont have Sephora in the UK, and I rarely go to MAC, but we have Debenhams which I presume is like Sephora.

-Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
Nope.

-What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
Brushes and Fingers.

-Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yes, i got the UDPP for xmas and i love it! i have the ELF one to but havent tried it yet!

-For the face?
Nope.

-What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
Purple really brings out the green in my eyes, but on an everyday basis I stick to neutral colours.

-Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Both!

-How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
lol I used to A LOT but iv gotten better!

-What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I like them but i need to practice more

-Do you use mineral makeup?
No its not great for dry skin.

-What is your favorite lipstick?
Oh im an avid wearer of the Barry M Touch of Magic! AMAZINGNESS!!!

-How about lipgloss?
Any, im not fussy.

-What is your favorite blush to use?
Boots Natural Collection in Pink Cloud

-Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
Yep. I'v bought some stuff thats been great...others not so lol.

-Do you like drugstore makeup?
YES! on my budget its what I mainly have! Anything higher end had been a present!
-Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)
Going to one at the end of the month! I'm SOOO excited <Dork lol

-Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
Im doing one now ;-)

-Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
No im pretty good.

-Name a makeup crime that you hate?
A stripe of blusher up the face! I'd love to carry a brush just to blend some peoples blusher in!
-Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
I love colour but I tend to stick to neutrals for work.

-Which celebrity always has great make up?
I think Cheryl Cole's makeup is always perfect, sometimes a little heavy but always perfect! I love Holly Willoughby, shes always so minimal on the face and eyes and then a bright lip!
-If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Lipstick!

-Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes, not wearing it doesnt bother me! I know a lot of girls cant leave the house but honestly, your face needs to breath!!

-Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
Apart from my redness <damn pink tone skin> i dont look dead aways lol

-In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
Probably Revlon for foundation and mascara, but MUA does brilliant lippy's, eyeshadow's and blushes.

-What do you think of Makeup?
Its great that something so simple can make such a difference, not just to the appearance but for confidence too! I always feel more confident and carry myself better when i know i look my best!

Gosh that was a long one!!

I tag anyone who reads this!!

Nail of the day

Well this is the first time I have posted from my phone so please forgive me if it's a little messy! I dread to see the shape of the photos!

Anywho...I'm lying here in work watching Mad Men season 3-I'm addicted...I want to time travel back to the 60's so I'm adding a Flux Capacitor to my Christmas list!(262 days btw!)

I'm also painting my nails! I hate not having polish on but college doesn't allow us to have it on due to health and safety :-( boo! So I always pack my essential nail kit and a well thought out colour so I can paint them between classes!!!

That's my little Cath Kidson rip of from Primarni! In it I keep a brittleness solver from Avon, a nail hardener from Gosh, a top coat from Sally Hanson, a nail file, some toothpicks, a correction pen and the colour of choice! Today's pick is my favourite nudey/brown from Barry M!

It's my favourite lighter brown in my collection - at least until I can get my hands on the OPI Texas collection...I swear the UK are ALWAYS the last to get everything :-(

Well that's all folks! I'm off to catch some Z's! I will be back tomorrow with my Tuesday Q&A!

Welcome to NailPolishAholic's Anonymous...

Hi...im addicted to nail polish ;-)
Not the best storage option, but with over 150 polishes i just cant do anything else :-(

I definitely have a wide colour range and a great variation on brands.

The most regular little fella in my collection is Barry M...In my opinion, the best "drugstore" nail polish ever, including the ones that claim to last 7 days (yeah...in your dreams!)
Colours from L-R: Limited Edition-030, Raspberry-273, Red Glitter-150, Cobalt Blue-291, Black-47, Instant Nail Effects-Black Crackle, Mushroom-310, Blueberry Ice Cream-306, Turquoise-295, Mint Green-304, Bright Pink-279
I usually only buy them on offer, Superdrug and Boots often do 2 for £5! I know they are only £2.99 but that extra £1 saved really counts on a budget! The only thing I would love Barry M to change about their nail polish range is the singlular names of the polishes...I'm such a dork when it comes to the name of things...its usually half the reason I buy it...<Advertising Sucka!!> But when the likes of OPI name a colour 'Siberian Nights' for example im automatically drawn to it, it could be the colour of last nights vomit and id buy it!! Mushroom is my favourite Barry M Polish!!

The next brand I have quite a few of is the Nailwear Pro range from Avon. I usually but them when they are on offer for £2.50/£3 they are usually £6.
Colours from L-R: Gunmetal, Splendid Blue, Luxe Lavender, Vintage Blue, Deluxe Chocolate, Coral Reef, Coral Beet, Green with Envy, Peppermint Leaf

These are beautiful colours, one coat is sufficient but two really boosts the colour payoff! I love avon for nail polish (especially on offer!). I like that they make a bit of effort with the name - Green with Envy is my favourite! I have quite a few other Avon ones from different collections, which I will maybe post another time. I recently ordered some more so I will update ASAP!

Next in my collection are some ELF polishes! They are all £1.50 and sometimes they are on offer for £1...Can't beat that with a stick eh!

Colours from L-R: :Lilac, Innocent, Chocolate, Matte Finisher, Medium Red, Cranberry, Punk Purple, Dark Navy.

So, these polishes are only £1.50, they are definitly worth the money, and with a few (2/3/4) coats do give a nice colour. The colour swatches on the website, for the most part, are not true to life. I ordered Punk Purple on the premise that it was a shocking bright purple...its more of a dull fushia pink, I actually like the colour but obviously I now keep an open mind when choosing a colour lol.
The matte finisher is GREAT! I really wanted to try the China Glaze one, but my Sally's didnt have it, so I saw this for £1.50 and thought "eh why not!". Im so glad I got it! Chocolate is my favourite!

I also have a lot of the little mini OPI collections, I have swatched them all on a nail wheel *Look Down*
Colours starting from the purpley/plum 2nd from top: Tiny Takeouts - Dim Sum Plum, Red my Fortune Cookie, Suzy Says Feng Shui. Shrek Collection - Who the Shrek are you, Rumples Wiggins, Whats with the Cattitude, Fiercely Fiona. Swiss Collection - Color So Hot it Berns, Yodel me on my Cell, Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous. Burlesque Collection - Ali's Big Break, The Show Must Go On, Take The stage, Rising Star. A Little Bit Retro Collection - Calendar Girl, Sea Ya Later Sailor!

Omg, my hands are sore from all that typing lol. The swatches are all one coat. They are all the little mini sets, I find it much more cost effective to buy the little OPI's, you get 3 or 4 colours for around £12 which compared to £10+ for one bottle is a bargain! And if you really love one of the colours and use up the baby you can splurge on the mummy! Dim Sum Plum is my favourite!

And last but not least are the most recent addition to my little family...

Colours L-R: Mistletoe Kisses, Liquid Leather, Jolly Holly, Ruby Deer.
You see...thats what im taking about...China Glaze really know how to name a polish!! These little beauty's run at £6+ in my local Sally's...but i get trade price :-) Actually the christmas ones where on sale for £2!! SCORE! I love the brushes in these polishes, it applies smoothly and evenly, one coat is fine, maybe two for extra lastingness...(< a word?) Iv worn all four of these this week as i tend to change my polish every other day and honestly...im in LOVE! My favourite is Jolly Holly!

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you want to see any swatches of specific colours and if you have any opinions on the polishes i have!!

Tuesday Q&A

I want to pick one day a week to post and answer a set of questions...I'm thinking of sticking to Tuesdays as it’s my least busy day in the week. Sooooo I googled, looking for questionnaires, and found a few good ones but I also want to do the tags that are going around Youtube too.

Let’s get started eh?
I got the questions from the lovely Charlottes YT channel, but she has a blog to!

1. What do you order at Starbucks?
A chai tea latte! Yummy! I tried to make this at home...the incident my mum likes to call "vomit in a mug day"...

2. What's one thing in your closet that you cannot live without?
Leggings! I have so many pairs of leggings! I’m not really into trousers!

3. What's one thing that most people probably wouldn't know about you?
That I have this blog...

4. Name one thing that you want to do before you die
I want to live in America for a while.

5. What's one food that you cannot live without?
Baked beans! mmmmmmmmm

6. What quote/phrase do you live your life by?
Since I discovered the beauty community on YT and then the blog community I’ve always kept this phrase at the back of my mind... “To be upset over what you don't have is to waste what you do have." I just wish a lot more people would too...:-)

7. What do you like and dislike about the YT/blog community?
I hate the hate! I know I don’t make videos but the hate still affects the feelings of the subscribers that want to support and encourage the gurus who have the guts to put themselves out there! I would love to see at least one hater cope with being hated on!

8. What's your number one most listened to song on iTunes?
Il check brb....oh it’s a TIE! Between Florence and the machine 'Drumming' and Florence and Dizzee at the Brits 'You got the dirty love'. I LOVE Florence!...LOVE!

9. What kind of style would you define yourself as having?
Very very mixed...it depends on my mood, the weather, the outing, the company I’m keeping...I will pretty much wear anything...(except neon!BLEUGH!)

10. Favourite number
7

11. Two hobbies
Jewellery making and make up!

12. Two pet peeves
Ignorant people and my mother’s aversion to lights...

13. Guilty Pleasure
The wizards of Waverly place...yeh I know...I’m super cool right?!

Feel free to answer the questions too!
